You are not alone
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
If you're like me, learning about "Organisations" or "Support Groups" more especially relating to head injury aka brain damage, is automatically a thanks but hard pass. Perhaps it's because we feel as though we are too good, too smart/or it just doesn't apply to me. Whatever or whichever it is that has kept me from dropping my fictitious guard, in part and for a decade, has left me switched off from accepting who I really am and held me back from accomplishing. If you just read that and it clicked, please do try not to become defensive in spirit or feel any shame. The only thing we are guilty of is being human. Being prideful in yourself or stubborn is not abnormal or a character flaw. Pushing away the World I feel some of us do unintentionally because brain injury left us understanding that pure honesty is something I am only capable of now. So those people or that person in our life today are beyond the daily routine stuff, plain cruel, self-absorbed, out for themselves. The Adage goes, "you cannot love others unless you love yourself". Man that's so true and applies to every single person alive. We are not an Alien Race. Brain damage, no matter the type or severity, does not get to have the power to detach us from the worthiness afforded to any non-head-injured individuals. You are awesome. You can be, if you are not already, an even better version of yourself because of what's happened.
